How long can you hold a device before we need it again?

The problem nobody budgets for

Distributed hiring made the first half of this easy and left the second half alone. Sending a laptop to a new employee in Nigeria is a courier booking. Getting it back — from a person who has already left, in a country where you have no presence, with data on it that is your responsibility — is a different problem, and it is usually discovered on the employee’s last day.

The failure modes are predictable. The device is never collected and is written off. It is collected but never wiped. It is wiped by the employee, which is not evidence of anything. Or it sits in an office in another country for eight months because nobody wants to decide what to do with it.

What GreyFusion does instead

A collection is booked with the employee directly and the hand-over is photographed. The device arrives at the warehouse in Abuja, is booked in against its serial, inspected, cleaned and graded, and the accessories that came back with it are tested and listed — as is anything that did not come back.

Data is then erased to NIST SP 800-88 and the locks are cleared, so the machine belongs to nobody until you assign it. It is stored, ready for the next person you hire here, and the record of all of it is available to you the whole time.

Built for employer-of-record and global-employment platforms

GreyFusion works as the in-country operation for global employment and equipment providers, so the platform carries one relationship and the devices are handled by people who are actually here. Billing is business to business: the employee is never asked for anything, and the end client on record is never billed.

A recovered device in grade A or B condition is the cheapest machine your next hire in Nigeria will ever get, and it is already in the country. Re-enrolling it into your MDM and delivering it to the next person is the same work as onboarding, minus the purchase.
