Last-mile delivery, to the person
A courier can get a box to a city. The last mile is getting the right device to the right person, confirming it was them, and recording that it happened — and that is the part that goes wrong.
The leg that gets skipped
International freight ends at a hub. What happens after that — the call, the address that is a landmark rather than a street number, the person who is at work when the rider arrives — is where a device deployment actually fails, and it is the part a spreadsheet in another country cannot manage.
GreyFusion runs that leg locally: the delivery is arranged with the employee directly, at a time they can take it, and the hand-over is photographed and recorded against the device’s serial.
What the hand-over records
Who took it, when, where, and what was in the box — the device and every accessory, listed individually. The photograph is evidence rather than decoration: it is what settles a later disagreement about whether a charger was included, and in this system a photograph cannot be deleted afterwards.
- Carrier and tracking number on the device record
- Hand-over photographed at the point of delivery
- Every accessory listed by name, not counted
- The employee named on the record as custodian
The same leg, backwards
Collection at offboarding is the same journey in reverse and is recorded the same way, which is why the device that comes back can be matched to the one that went out without anybody comparing two spreadsheets.
Where
Abuja directly, and nationwide by courier — Lagos, Port Harcourt, Kano, Ibadan, Enugu and anywhere else a courier reaches. Cross-border is quoted case by case, because customs treatment of IT equipment differs a great deal between corridors.
Questions we get asked
- Do you deliver outside Abuja?
- Yes, nationwide. Abuja is served directly; the rest of Nigeria goes by courier with the carrier and tracking number on the device record.
- How do we know the right person received it?
- The hand-over is photographed and the employee is named on the record as the device’s custodian, with the date and the accessories that went with it.
- Can you deliver to a home address?
- Yes — that is the usual case for remote staff. The delivery is arranged with the employee directly at a time they can take it.
